Event Advisory: Mock Car Collision (Cowichan Secondary)

Please be aware of the following event taking place at Cowichan Secondary School on Thursday, October 18, 2017:

National Teen Driver Safety Week: Mock Car Collision

Grade 12 students at Cowichan Secondary School will get a glimpse into the realities of impaired, speed and distracted driving thanks to a mock car collision event being held at the school during National Teen Driver Safety Week.

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP, ICBC, Cowichan Secondary School and other community partners have come together to deliver this event. The goal of the event is to educate young drivers and encourage them to think about risks and responsibility—and to remind them why they should choose to make safety their first priority.

The event will consist of two previously crashed vehicles, with actors and students playing the roles of drivers and passengers; they will be made up to reflect injuries of a high-risk driving collision. First responders will be on site, treating the collision as a real accident scene. The collision will be narrated to students by the RCMP.
