Dual Credit Programs

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

School District 79 is a member of the South Island Partnership. This enables us to offer our students both Dual Credit and Apprenticeship programs. The Dual Credit Program delivers education and training programs and courses that help provide a smooth secondary school student transition from secondary to post-secondary education and the workplace. The program provides a method of engaging students in their education and an opportunity to enhance a students™ secondary school experience and create a student better prepared for the rigors of post secondary education while earning high school credit.

ITA YOUTH TRAIN (ACE-IT) / ITA YOUTH WORK (SECONDARY SCHOOL APPRENTICESHIP)

YOUTH TRAIN is an industry training program for high school students. Through a YOUTH TRAIN program, students can take courses that will give them credit towards both high school graduation and completion of an apprenticeship or industry training program. YOUTH TRAIN programs are developed and offered in partnership between school districts and post-secondary institutions and classes are often taught at colleges. Students who complete these programs typically have very good success in finding employment in the trades.
