Equity in Action – Survey

Ensuring that our educational system and our schools treat every student with respect and dignity is an important first step in making sure students experience success in their learning journey and in life.

One of the ways that our District is bringing this statement to life is by taking part in a provincial movement called ‘Equity in Action’ that is facilitated by the Ministry of Education and Child Care, and carefully examines equity in our schools.

As part of this project we are doing a district self-reflection on Equity. Between September 19th and October 19th, students, families and staff will be asked to respond to an online Equity Scan Survey. The survey is completely voluntary and anonymous.

Take the survey now: https://www.awinfosys.com/surveyfull1/custom/sd79/main/default.asp

Your responses will provide insight on how both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous students learn about Indigenous history, culture, language, and Truth & Reconciliation. Your survey responses will also help the school district to better understand how students and families experience education in our schools and school district.

There is space for comments at the end of the survey. If you have more thoughts to share, you can also volunteer for a follow-up Focus Group at the end of the survey. The information collected will be used to help us create a District Equity Action Plan. The plan will be shared with the school district and community.
