ICBC and RCMP Partner for Driving Education

A real-world example of the consequences of high-speed crashes is rolled into Cowichan Secondary School this past Tuesday, courtesy of ICBC and the North Cowichan Duncan RCMP.

A mock crash scene was set up for students and staff alike to experience. More than a just a crash scene, the students heard Kevin Brooks’ story of his high-speed crash and difficult recovery prior to experiencing the collision scene first hand.

Local first responders including the RCMP and the North Cowichan Fire Department, were on scene and will helped reinforce the message about speed being the number one contributing factor for fatal crashes involving youth and distracted driving being the top contributing factor for injury crashes involving youth. As students wrapped up viewing of the crash scene, they returned to a live Q&A session with Kevin.
