Learning Innovation in the Cowichan Valley

The Cowichan Valley School District is considered a leader in education innovation…but what does that actually mean? What does innovation look like in our classrooms? Why does it matter to kids? One of the best ways to tell our stories and share our approach to learning is through video, so you can see and hear stories of learning directly from educators and students.

We invite you to join us for a glimpse in teaching and learning in the Cowichan Valley.

This video was filmed in October 2017 at several schools throughout the district, including:

  • Khowhemun Elementary
  • Maple Bay Elementary
  • George Bonner Elementary
  • École Mount Prevost
  • Cowichan Secondary
  • Cowichan Valley Open Learning Co-Op

In this video, we highlight teaching and learning through the lens of ‘Five Key Elements of Effective Learning Environments’:

  • Learner-Centered
  • Profoundly Personalized
  • Inclusive
  • Social
  • Structured and Well-Designed

Videos of the School District will also be posted to our new page: https://sd79.bc.ca/district-videos/
