November 29th: Non-Instructional Day (no school)

Friday, November 29, 2019 is a non-instructional day for students in the Cowichan Valley School District. No classes are in session and buses will not be running. The regular schedule will resume on Monday, December 2, 2019.

With Friday’s non-instructional day, our staff are focusing their learning on Indigenous Understandings. With a keynote from Monique Gray Smith, and dedicated work focusing on indigenous understandings, it promises to be a powerful day.

Providing excellent professional development is one of the ways in which our district ensures our teachers are given the professional skills to create exceptional and innovative learning environment for our nearly 8000 learners.

Much like doctors, who must continually update their medical knowledge to ensure the health and well-being of their patients, our teachers must continually update their professional skills to ensure that our learners are provided with the best learning environments we can offer. We know that education is a key determinate of public health and our teachers are leading the way in ensuring the well-being of our learners and our communities.

We look forward to sharing all the knowledge gained from this day throughout our schools.
