After a two year hiatus, Rookie Rugby returned to Cowichan Valley schools. 13 teams from 11 schools, including public and private schools in the Cowichan Valley, competed at the Rookie Rugby Jamboree on Thursday, May 19th.
Athletes from grades 5,6, and 7 competed in over 40 matches at Cowichan Rugby Football Club (CRFC) fields on Herd Rd (Go Piggies!). There was a huge turnout of parents, siblings and supporters in this after school event. Volunteers referees from MacDOWELL RUGBY helped everyone learn more about the great game of rugby.
A special thank you to Robin MacDowell, of MacDowell Rugby Academy and Sherry Spence, President of the CRFC Juniors Program, for helping make the whole jamboree happen, and to all the coaches who supported their young athletes.
