Orange Shirt Day

Every child matters.

School District 79 respectfully acknowledges Orange Shirt Day on September 30th. Please consider these resources as you and your students travel the path of reconciliation.

Physical Resources

The Orange Shirt Story by Phyllis Webstad tells about the author’s experience in Residential School. It is suitable for grades 3-7 and up.

Phyllis’s Orange Shirt is the story rewritten for primary students.

The SD79 Indigenous Education Department has kindly ordered a copy of these books for all schools. Additionally, the DLC has a few copies.

Access the DLC’s online catalogue and search “reconciliation” to find out what other resources you might use in the classroom.
