Fire at Alexander Elementary

On New Year’s Eve, at approximately 10 p.m., the Cowichan Valley School District was
notified of a fire in the back pod of Alexander Elementary School.
The North Cowichan Fire Department was on the scene, preventing the fire from
spreading further into the school. While the cause of the fire is still unknown, first
responders and the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP will continue to investigate.
While the pod area suffered significant fire and water damage, the main building was
not affected, and will be open and ready to welcome all students back to class on
Monday, January 6, 2025.
