Nurturing Child Care Options

We are committed to providing high quality, safe and nurturing child care for school aged children (Kindergarten through Grade 7). Each child is recognized and supported in a manner that respects the child’s emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs.  Our inclusive school-age program offers a relaxed and safe environment where children are given an opportunity to learn, grow and be challenged.

We believe that each child is unique with different needs and aspirations.  We understand that the support and guidance provided to one particular child may not work for another, therefore; individual approaches are implemented where possible.

We are committed to providing children with:

  • Play environments that are inclusive, cooperative and diverse.
  • Opportunities for positive self-development.
  • Our staff will provide quality care for each child in a safe and supportive setting.

Program Overview & Registration

Out of School Care Programs

Our Out of School Care Programs are licensed care facilities which provides care up to a maximum of 36 children at individual sites.

Families that are currently enrolled, will be given the option for priority registration for the following school year. Re-registration will be made available for families in the Esikidz software for the subsequent school year in late May.

New families looking to enroll in the Out of School Care programs can add their child(ren) to the waitlist. This waitlist does not guarantee your child is enrolled, but is based on a first-come first-served system.

Registration preference/priority will be given to siblings of existing children in care & to families that are utilizing full-time, before and after school care, Monday through Friday.

Registration

Our Out of School Care programs are currently based, on site, at six Elementary Schools in the district.

You can add your child(ren) to the waitlist using this link to our Esikidz Software – Out of School Care Waitlist – Esikidz

This is a first-come first-served system, which allows us to be objective and provide equitable access to our programming. If there is space in the program you are interested in, Kacey Milligan – Administrative Assistant of Early Learning and Child Care will get in contact with you via phone or email with more information.

Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB)

The Affordable Child Care Benefit is a monthly payment to help eligible families with the cost of child care. Factors like income, family size, and type of care determine how much support families may receive. Families need to renew their application every year.

To start an application for the Affordable Childcare Benefit (ACCB) click here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/family-social-supports/caring-for-young-children/childcarebc-programs/child-care-benefit (If you are renewing an application, please have your BCEID handy to log in through the MyFamilyServices portal.

Here is a how-to video regarding the ACCB application process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-w8WIbhNn4

A reminder that this application or renewal process can be as short as 2 weeks, but up to 8 weeks. Please complete this as soon as possible, so that we can have funding in place for students.

To request a childcare arrangement form, please email Kacey Milligan at cvchildcare@sd79.bc.ca – Sections 1-4 are pre-filled by us, and sections 5-8 need to be completed by you prior to submitting it as a backup document to the portal.

If funding is not in place before children start their program, families are responsible for the full tuition until their ACCB is in place.
