INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION

During the winter season there may be times when bus routes will not operate as usual, or when schools in the district are closed due to inclement weather.

BUS CANCELLATIONS

The most common reason for bus service cancellation is severe winter weather. A decision will be made by approximately 6 a.m. in consultation with transportation staff, who assess local road conditions. Please ensure you are aware of the route(s) your child(ren) use.

BUS OPERATIONS DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER

Some roadways may be deemed unsafe for school buses during inclement weather. If this occurs, affected routes and any alternate safe pick-up locations will be communicated via My Ride K-12 and the district Facebook page.

If buses are running more than 15 minutes late, drivers will notify the transportation office, which will then inform school Principals and Vice-Principals. This information will also be posted on My Ride K-12 and the district Facebook page. We recommend downloading the My Ride K-12 app for timely updates.

SCHOOL CLOSURES

Schools may be closed due to severe winter weather or unsafe driving conditions. A decision will be made by approximately 6 a.m. following a thorough assessment.

Please note:
Schools may also be closed due to weather events after the school day has started. In these situations, parents and guardians will need to make arrangements for their children if buses are unable to operate.

SAFETY FIRST

The safety of students is our top priority. Parents are encouraged to use their discretion when deciding whether to send their child(ren) to school during winter weather. If you feel it is safer to keep them home, that is your prerogative.

When attending school during winter conditions, please ensure students wear appropriate footwear, use designated walkways, and park only in designated drop-off areas.
