Crofton Elementary Community School school was selected to participate in the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation’s annual Adopt a School fundraiser! Every dollar raised in-store at Coles Willowbrook Shopping Centre, Coles Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, and online between October 10 – 31, 2023 will go DIRECTLY to the school to help fill their shelves with new and diverse books!
Crofton is a small community in the greater North Cowichan municipality. Crofton is nestled by the ocean with a small elementary school, a few local stores and restaurants, and a pulp and paper mill as the biggest employer. They are looking to replace outdated books so students have accurate and appropriate resources to read. They have cleared out 1150+ aged and outdated books over the summer to make room for the generous ‘adopt a school’ donation from the fundraiser. Finding books that each of our students will enjoy is the goal. Discovering the perfect book can spark a lifelong love of reading. Students were asked to provide a wish list of books they hoped to read to get them excited about reading. Many students chose non-fiction books; therefore, one of our goals is to update our non-fiction collection. The non-fiction collection is the most outdated area of the library. Thank you so much for supporting our school and for helping to inspire a love of reading in our students!
