Crofton and Chemainus Long Range Planning

Communities asked for Feedback as Cowichan Valley School District Board of Education Creates Long Range Plans

COWICHAN VALLEY, BC – The Cowichan Valley School District Board of Education seeks a conversation with Chemainus and Crofton communities in order to develop a long-range facilities plan for north zone of the school district.

Long-range facilities plans will help chart the course for the next number of years as the communities of Chemainus and Crofton continue to grow. The Board is hoping parents, caregivers, and others involved in the school community will join the community conversations and help develop this plan through a series of three events hosted at Chemainus Secondary School throughout January and February.

“It is our sincere hope that the communities of Chemainus and Crofton will help us co-create the long-range facilities plan that will see us through the substantial projected growth in these two areas,” said Candace Spilsbury, Chair of the Board of Education. “We know that there are already space challenges in the schools in these communities, and we want to prepare our schools, staff, learners, and wider communities for the continued growth that is anticipated.”

A long-range facilities plan helps the district properly resource each area for projected growth. Although this current round of conversations is aimed at the north end of the district, similar events are to be held across the district throughout 2019.
