The Joint Job Evaluation Committee (JJEC) maintains the job evaluation plan for all jobs within CUPE Local 5101.

Job evaluation initiated at the request of an incumbent:

Whenever the employer changes the duties and responsibilities of a job, or the incumbent(s)/union feel that the duties and responsibilities of a job have been changed, or that the job description does not reflect the duties and responsibilities of the job. Submit your request for rating a changed job to the JJEC at educatsec@sd79.bc.ca.

Education Assistants Qualification Upgrade

Requests to upgrade EA qualifications are reviewed twice a year, in October and April. To request an upgrade to your qualifications; please review the position description for the required education, experience and skills.

When completing the form(s), please elaborate on the education and specific courses taken as well as the number of hours in any course. Also include all practical experience that supports the requested upgrade. Any practical experience  indicated must be verifiable by a reference and  be accompanied by a full explanation of your experience that supports the request.

Submit your complete package to hrcupeusw@sd79.bc.ca. This package should include the completed request form(s), all transcripts (unofficial is accepted), certificates, supporting documents and references. All required accompanying documentation must be attached with the submission. Not submitting all this information will prevent review of your request.

Employee Family Assistance Program

Our EFAP provider, Vancouver Island Counselling, offers a wealth of information on topics including work/life balance, teens and aging family members, substance abuse, anxiety, and sleep to name a few.  Past issues of their monthly newsletter are also available.

The health and safety of all employees [and students] is an important concern and therefore, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy working and learning environment. The Board will develop standards and procedures in addition to its legal and regulatory responsibilities, when and where necessary, in an effort to protect staff against health and accident hazards.

Payroll & Benefits

The Payroll and Benefits Department processes pay and benefits for Teachers, CUPE, USW, Principals/Vice Principals, Teachers Teaching on Call, and Excluded employees. The staff of this department are responsible for financial analysis and reporting, accounting operations and payroll administration for the district.
