ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Cowichan Valley School District confirms that Dr. Lorna Newman, Assistant Superintendent has announced she will be leaving the Cowichan Valley School District effective July 31, 2016 to accept a position with the Arrow Lakes School District. “Dr. Newman has been a valued member of our School District since 2002 in the role of Director of Student Support Services and most recently as Assistant Superintendent,” stated Superintendent Rod Allen. “Dr. Newman is viewed as an educational leader in the community and the School District wishes to thank her for her contributions to our district and wishes her the best,“ said Allen.
INTERIM ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT APPOINTMENT
The Cowichan Valley School District is pleased to announce that Ms. Debbie Mah has been appointed Interim Assistant Superintendent to replace departing incumbent Dr. Lorna Newman. Ms. Mah will commence her position with the Cowichan Valley School District on August 1, 2016 taking over the Student Support portfolio. Ms. Mah is currently the District Director of Learning Services for School District 60: Peace River North and is the President of the BC Council of Administrators of Special Education. Superintendent Rod Allen says Ms. Mah will bring over 33 years of experience and her considerable expertise to the District.
VICE-PRINCIPAL APPOINTMENTS
The Cowichan Valley School District is pleased to announce the following Vice-Principal assignments effective August 1, 2016.
VICE-PRINCIPAL OF FRANCES KELSEY SECONDARY SCHOOL
Ms. Julie Parker has been assigned to the position of Vice-Principal of Frances Kelsey Secondary School. She is currently Vice-Principal at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in the Vancouver School Board District. Ms. Parker has been an administrator for three years.
VICE-PRINCIPAL OF CHEMAINUS SECONDARY SCHOOL
Mr. Justin Hawkins has been assigned to the position of Vice-Principal of Chemainus Secondary School. He is currently Principal of Mackenzie Secondary School in the Prince George School District. Mr. Hawkins has been an administrator for four years.
